How a U.S. water and wastewater utility digitalized its calibration process with Beamex

At Nordic Metrology Science, we are excited to announce a new milestone in the energy sector. We have secured a 36-month, €255,000 contract in partnership with AB A water and wastewater utility in the United States provides drinking water and wastewater treatment services to around 250,000 people. Previously, calibration data for more than 1,200 instruments was recorded manually and then transferred into Excel, making the process time-consuming and prone to human error.

The utility chose Beamex CMX Calibration Management Software and the Beamex MC6 Advanced Field Calibrator and Communicator to create a digital calibration workflow. This helped reduce manual work, improve data traceability, and generate clear, traceable calibration certificates.

After implementing Beamex, the time required for calibration work was reduced by approximately 65–75%. One MC6 device also replaced several field calibrators and separate HART communicators, making fieldwork easier and more efficient for technicians.

The system also improved troubleshooting. Technicians can quickly check an instrument’s calibration, record the “as found” condition with the MC6, and send the data directly to CMX. This makes it easier to identify whether the issue is with an analyzer, transmitter, actuator, or another part of the process.

Main benefits:

  • Digital and scalable calibration management.
  • Lower risk of manual data entry errors.
  • Up to 65–75% reduction in labor time.
  • Traceable calibration certificates.
  • Fewer separate devices for technicians.
  • Faster troubleshooting.
  • Greater confidence from regulatory agencies.
