Nordic Metrology Science and ESO: New Project for Current Measurement Transformer Verification
2024 08 14
Nordic Metrology Science and AB “Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius” (ESO) are pleased to announce the continuation of their ongoing collaboration with a new project aimed at enhancing the reliability and security of Lithuania’s electricity networks. This initiative is part of our shared commitment to ensuring that residents and businesses across the country benefit from a stable and reliable power supply.
Over the next 36 months, our team of professional metrologists will provide verification services for 0.4-10 kV current measurement transformers. Valued at €668,000, this project is designed to ensure that these transformers operate with precision and reliability, contributing to the efficient and safe distribution of energy throughout Lithuania.
About ESO’s Role in Lithuania
AB “Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius” is a key energy company in Lithuania, responsible for the distribution of electricity and natural gas across the country. As a critical component of Lithuania’s energy infrastructure, ESO plays an essential role in delivering energy safely and reliably to both private and business consumers.
In its electrical systems, ESO uses current measurement transformers—devices that safely and accurately measure high-voltage electric currents. These transformers reduce the current to a safe level, allowing it to be precisely measured by standard instruments. This is crucial for maintaining proper electricity supply and distribution.
The Importance of Metrological Verification
Metrological verification is essential to ensure that current measurement transformers function accurately and reliably. Inaccurate measurements can cause disruptions in electrical systems, so regular equipment checks are vital to preventing these issues.
Benefits of Regular Metrological Verification:
- Accuracy: Ensures precise measurements of electrical current, which are necessary for efficient energy distribution.
- Safety: Helps prevent inaccurate readings that could pose safety risks.
- Efficiency: Reduces energy losses by ensuring smooth system operation.
- Prevention: Detects and resolves potential issues before they escalate, minimizing downtime and repair costs.
This project highlights our continued commitment to providing high-quality metrological services that support the infrastructure of Lithuania’s energy sector. We are proud to contribute to the ongoing efforts to maintain the safety, efficiency, and reliability of electricity distribution across the country.
